The Agency Real Estate Brokerage’s old, and first, home was located on Commissioners Road in London. Great spot! Centrally located and in a well known location so we were easy to find. The building was nice. Lots of parking, and best of all we were main floor access with second floor lease rates! Real estate agents find weird things exciting!
A suitable location and space to start out in, but we knew from the beginning this was not our forever home.
Although Downtown London was never really on our radar, a nice location came up and we just couldn’t pass the opportunity up.
Located on the most well known corner of downtown London – Queens Avenue and Wellington Street. Our front porch faces One London Place. What a view. The exterior of the building has that NYC brownstone, boutique flair that speaks directly to our style and culture.
The previous owner had been there a long time. And they must have truly loved it so much that they wanted to keep it in all of it’s original glory. The interior? Well… not so much our style.
The unit is a part of a condo building and does have main floor street access but essentially it is in a basement. Basement living 101: don’t make it feel like you are in a basement!!
Inside there were large bulk heads, dim and older lighting, big bulky furniture and the occasional bottle of half empty scotch (hey…we don’t judge).  But because we love the location so much and the look and feel of the outside we knew, with some elbow grease, we could transform this in to something beautiful! As you can see, we had our work cut out for us!
On closing day we stepped in to our new digs and began to feel the reality of…. “Where do we even start?” A few contractors told us, some even tried to CONVINCE US (believe it or not) to just repaint and change the floors. We started to lose a little bit of hope that our dream would fit in to our budget.
But when we set an idea in motion, we do not back down. This place will be open, modern, and have The Agency Real Estate Brokerage’s vision written all over it (Dan may have had more faith than Rachael at this point, but we aren’t going to talk about that).
When it comes to renovations and time lines, decisions have to be quick. Firm. Final. Can’t look back. So two feet forward we decided to proceed with our dream vision of the space regardless of some of the suggestions. We could, and are going to make this happen!
We have to tell you. This decision didn’t come without it’s hiccups and…. “oh dear what did we do’s” … but it will be worth it.
Hurry back and follow us on our renovation journey! We can’t wait to show you the “after” picture of the reception area!
