You can build a great space but with out the accents it’s nothing.
When building a great space of course overall design, walls, flooring etc are important. You can build an elegant space that functions well and is beautiful but if you don’t choose the right furniture and accents your efforts have been wasted.
After the design and build portion of our renovation journey was complete it was time to accessorize. The fun part. Shopping!
In our last office we went with the big box stores for furniture and got what was functional. We knew this time we were not going to do that.
The style of the decor we were going with was mid-century modern with a splash of contemporary. These styles can sometimes feel cold or leave people not wanting to touch anything in the room. So we knew we had to find durable welcoming pieces that still fit the style, but were more inviting and comfortable.
Pinterest became our best friend. As did visiting great stores in London that we knew we could find one of a kind pieces rather than assembly line “average joe” stuff.
Our live-edge board room table was the first find. We love this table so much. We pieced it together with modern chairs with clean lines and black legs. Splash a sunburst mirror on the wall and simple modern meeting room achieved.

Next the benches in our open work space. Because collaboration was at the forefront of our layout plan we knew we needed seating that would be conducive to this style. Blue is our colour, and being hell bent on putting a splash of color we knew that it was the benches that had to do this job.

Have you ever heard of WayFair.ca? It’s like this website read our minds. We found the benches and they were ordered and shipped with in days. These coupled with some teak tables a few succulents and a welcoming modern cafe style work space was ours.

Art work is also very important and should not be overlooked. Because this is an office we tried to keep that in mind. With too much standard art work we run the risk of making our space feel like a home. Although we did want to achieve a bit of a homey feel some splashes of our brand were needed.
A recent office photo shoot left us with some pretty great pics that we turned into posters blown up and framed. This also allowed us to include our rock star agents in the decor. We love these posters.

With the reception area being the heart of every office a great first impression was vital for us. Our custom made reception designed and built by Elite Kitchen Designs is in our opinion one of the most beautiful pieces. Sleek and modern with warm greys and browns. A splash of gold accents. Gorgeous.
Of course we couldn’t forget the washrooms. Our space just had to speak to who we are as people and as a company. After all this is why we are doing all of this. Laughing and being real is at the heart of everything that we do so why not put some laughs in our space. These you’ll just to have to come visit to see for yourself.
Adding decor to any space can be time consuming and in some cases stressful. However should never be overlooked or rushed through.
What design styles do you love? Are there local London, Ontario shops you know of that offer great one of a kind pieces? Let us know.
