It all started a few years ago when a tiny voice said, ” I would rather do something to help.” The voice came from an 8 year-old girl when asked what she would be asking for this year for her birthday.
This young girl is the daughter of Dan and Rachael Polakovic, owners of The Agency Real Estate Brokerage in London. A few weeks prior to this the Polakovic Family was discussing an organization that had developed in the city of London called Just a Bunch of Friends. Which is literally what they are. A bunch of friends that collect items and deliver them to the streets of London once a month to those in need. This discussion had obviously made an impression on this young lady as just a few days later she was requesting her friends bring her items to donate in lieu of presents for her up coming birthday.
The impact of this choice is still felt deeply and has become not only a tradition with her, but has extended to an annual drive that The Agency Real Estate Brokerage runs each holiday season.
A few years ago it evolved into not only collecting donations of warm clothes and shoes, but to bags filled with toiletry, personal care items, snacks, and other blessings.
Each holiday season The Agency reaches out to people in the community to donate personal care items that include but are not limited to:
Tampons, sanitary napkins, and other feminine care products
Warm socks
Gloves
Chapstick
Non-perishable hand held snacks
Combs
Toothbrush
Toothpaste
The cost per bag is approximately $10 so The Agency welcomes cash donations as well.
The items are then placed in bags and distributed to the Just A Bunch of Friends team in time for their December outing.
The drive lasts approximately 2 weeks but changes lives in our community forever.
