How To Keep Your Lawn Healthy And Beautiful

Lawns can be tough – especially if you are a new homeowner. However, there are ways you can learn to care for your yard so that your lawn is the envy of all your neighbours. It doesn’t have to be complicated!

Let’s dive in!

Get Rid of The Weeds

To prevent new weeds from growing, you absolutely need to get rid of the old ones first. Pull ‘em up with your hands or use a tool, such as a hoe – just get rid of them! Make sure you pull them at their roots so they don’t grow back. Then, apply weed control substances if need be. Do this first thing in the spring or summer season to allow your lawn to flourish!

Don’t Forget to Aerate

Aeration allows space for your lawn to breath. Plus, it lets water and nutrients get deep into the soil. You can either rent an aerator or hire the pros to do it for you. Make sure to aerate 1-2 times a year in the spring and fall. If you only do it once, go for the fall season. It’ll set your lawn up to grow back better than ever come the following spring.

Learn The Ins and Outs of Mowing

Don’t mow your lawn too short – stick to removing only the top third of the grass blades. Also, mow when the grass is dry. There will be less clumping and less mess. Make sure to keep your mowing blades sharp for a smooth and easy cut. These small tricks can make all the difference.

Spread Grass Seed

Applying grass seed to your lawn helps stop those ugly bare patches from showing up! Apply it evenly across the lawn. It’s well worth it!

Know How To Water Your Lawn

The morning is the best time to water your lawn. The sun won’t evaporate the water as quickly, allowing time for the ground to soak it up. If watering is a hassle and you hate dragging that hose to those hard to reach spots, consider getting an irrigation system. It comes with a timer and waters your lawn on time – so you don’t have to! It also ensures a nice, even watering. You’ll have the peace of mind knowing you didn’t miss any spots.

Keep your lawn looking healthy and beautiful. It’s entirely possible! Follow the above simple tips and you’ll get there. When all else fails, call in the pros – they’ll know what to do to fix any lawn problem.
